Although PuTTY is probably the most popular telnet/SSH client in the world, it still lacks some features which could have made it more comfortable. This is where KiTTY comes in. It is a variation of PuTTY 0.65, which brings a wide range of new features to the table. It includes features requested by users, as well as other technical and graphical features. Furthermore, as an added bonus, KiTTY comes with an integrated text editor and a chat server.

KiTTY is offered completely free of charge, but it is available only for Windows. It comes as a single executable, so you only need to download it and run it, instead of going through an installation process. The software doesn't ask for any special tools or services and its impact on a computer's performance is next to insignificant.

The first thing you will notice is the fact that KiTTY looks and feels like PuTTY. It presents a similar configurations panel when you launch it, but with many more options. Once your configurations are complete, you can begin your session with the main terminal window. Besides saving and loading sessions, KiTTY also lets you organize them in folders and sub-folders.

There are many new options you can expect to find in KiTTY. For example, you can filter sessions, work with shortcuts for predefined commands, run local scripts on remote sessions and much more. The software comes with some graphical enhancements as well. Session icons, window transparency or a roll-up function for the main window are just a few examples.

The software also comes with a protection feature against unintentional typing. You can disable the keyboard input on the terminal window by clicking an option or using a keyboard shortcut. As a result, you won't type in anything if you press something on your keyboard by accident.

KiTTY gives you more control, flexibility and many more features than you would expect to find in PuTTY.

Pros

KiTTY provides you with many useful features. It comes with graphical and technical enhancements. It looks and feels just like PuTTY, so you don't have to spend any time to learn its controls.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to address.
